Overview:
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Segment Lead, Data Centers to lead the development and growth of our data center business. This role will be responsible for strategy, business development, operations, and team leadership. You will build and lead a high-performance team, develop go-to-market strategies, and drive execution across design, construction, leasing, and operations of world-class data center facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the long-term vision for our data center business, aligned with enterprise goals. Build and maintain long term strategic partnerships.
- Identify and evaluate market trends, competitive landscape, and growth opportunities across Canada and US.
- Develop business plans and financial models for new facilities, partnerships, and related opportunities to drive revenue growth.
Business Development
- Drive strategic partnerships with hyperscalers, enterprises, cloud providers, design and engineering firms and real estate partners. Responsible for new customer acquisition.
- Lead negotiations and contracts for land acquisition, design, engineering and subcontractor agreements, power procurement and other stakeholder groups.
- Lead contract negotiations ensuring optimal commercial terms, aligning client needs and service offerings.
Project Delivery & Operations
- Oversee the lifecycle of data center projects — from site selection and design through construction and commissioning.
- Oversee and collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) teams to ensure timely and on-budget delivery.
- Work with Operations to foster productivity, collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and clients.
- Monitor and achieve sales revenue volumes against budgeted targets, monitor forecast, manage pipeline and sales and operational performance requirements.
Team Building & Leadership
- Build and lead a cross-functional team including sales, engineering, operations, and finance. Recruit top talent and establish a high-performing, agile, and accountable organizational culture.
Governance & Reporting
- Report on key metrics, forecasts, and KPIs to executive leadership and board.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., electrical, environmental, zoning).
- Amico places a strong emphasis on Health & Safety, Environment and Quality and therefore this role must maintain a strong obligation to company objectives in this area.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of leadership experience in data centers, critical infrastructure, cloud, or real estate development.
- Proven success in business development, team leadership, and strategic planning.
- Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operations (including power, cooling, redundancy, etc.).
- Experience managing large capital projects and navigating permitting, utilities, and compliance.
- Strong industry network across hyperscalers, service providers, developers, and utilities.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree required; MBA or technical graduate degree a plus.
