Reporting to: Manager, Geotechnical Division (initially), transitioning to CEO
Salary: $135,000 - $150,000 + bonus
DMC Recruitment Group is pleased, once again, to be partnering with Metro Testing + Engineering, a well-established multidisciplinary engineering firm, to find an Environmental Manager who's ready to lead with purpose and help shape the next chapter of their environmental practice.
Metro has built a strong reputation across BC for delivering technical excellence with a hands-on, collaborative approach. Now, they're investing in their environmental services division's growth and looking for a leader who can do more than manage projects. They want someone to help build a team, grow the business, and leave a lasting mark.
As Environmental Manager, you'll take ownership of complex environmental projects across the province, from Phase I to Phase III site assessments, to remediation and risk analysis. You'll work directly with senior leadership, contribute to the firm's strategic planning, and play a key role in expanding environmental services to new markets, including Fort St. John and Abbotsford.
If you're a subject matter expert with a strong track record in contaminated sites and want to play a central role in shaping a growing division, this is an opportunity to lead with autonomy, mentorship, and vision.
What You'll Do:
- Lead environmental projects from planning through execution, ensuring timelines, budgets, and regulatory standards are met
- Oversee contaminated site investigations, remediation efforts, and both human and ecological risk assessments
- Prepare technical reports for regulatory submissions and due diligence investigations
- Mentor and grow a multidisciplinary team of EITs and junior staff
- Collaborate with the business development team to maintain and expand the client portfolio
- Manage project profitability, including billable hours, invoicing, and forecasting
- Help expand Metro's environmental footprint into new regions across BC
- Strong project management experience in environmental consulting
- Proven expertise in contaminated sites, remediation, and environmental risk assessments
- Familiarity with BC environmental regulations and the Ministry of Environment's processes
- Experience mentoring staff and building cohesive, high-performing teams
- A client-focused mindset with solid communication and relationship-building skills
- A desire to contribute strategically to a growing business unit
This is a high-impact role with a high ceiling. You'll join a company that values entrepreneurial thinking, technical rigor, and collaborative leadership, and be given the runway to shape the future of environmental consulting at Metro.
