Within the LGC Standards Division you will work as part of the Regulatory Compliance Team as SDS Author. You will report to the local Compliance Manager as well as dotted to the SDS Manager. Your main stakeholders will be within Production and Supply Chain.
Your main duties will be authoring SDSs and conducting product classifications for supply and transport. You will also provide regulatory support to colleagues and customers concerning the classification of products. Using the company's commercial SDS software system you will play a key role within the compliance team by taking responsibility for SDS classification, authoring and labelling.
Previous experience in a regulatory or product safety role in the chemicals/biological/pharma industry is highly desirable. Proven SDS authoring experience is essential.
- You must be systematic, have strong attention to detail, be comfortable communicating with a range of stakeholders and be able to work in a small close knit team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team atmosphere and to work independently,
- Preparation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and label recommendations in compliance with relevant global regulations and company policies.
- Research various regulatory and HES requirements (chemical composition, hazard evaluation, fire protection, handling and storage requirements, selection of PPE, transportation classification, chemical inventory status, etc.).
- Understand and be familiar with applicable international and national regulations (i.e. GHS, CLP, REACH, OSHA, Whims, HazCom2012).
- Preparation of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and label recommendations in compliance with relevant global regulations and company policies.
- Bachelor's degree in Toxicology, Chemistry, Biology or similar.
- Ability to apply toxicology and phys/chem data to the safe handling of chemicals.
- Experience with SDS authoring or experience with product classification
- Knowledge about Transport regulation (IATA; ADR, DOT etc.)
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Understanding of customer requirements and expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on multiple assignments concurrently and to reprioritize work quickly to meet changing demands
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Customer-focused mindset with an understanding of customer requirements and expectations
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel
