Job DescriptionWorking under the direction of the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) managers, the DI Modality Supervisor is an important member of the DI leadership team. Sound judgment and strong leadership abilities will enable the DI Modality Supervisor to lead and develop a team focused on delivering excellent patient care. The incumbent will support the manager in overseeing all aspects of modality operations including: quality management; staff productivity and human resource management; resolving issues and pursuing opportunities to ensure effective and efficient operations. The DI Modality Supervisor will develop and motivate a cohesive team, and will identify and support educational strategies to enhance staff knowledge with respect to professional practice and patient-centered care. The DI Modality Supervisor must build and continue to maintain dynamic and collaborative relationships across DI and with other clinical partners across the hospital(s).
Accountabilities:
- Manages, organizes, assigns, and distributes workload among staff to ensure the department operates in a manner that is safe, efficient and responsive to volumes and outcomes
- Demonstrates effective decision making to enable adequate staffing and scheduling to handle daily workload requirements based on annual budgeted/funded volumes, financial, departmental goals etc.
- Ensures staff compliance with appropriate licensing body(s)
- Ensures safe-working practices for department and supports staff in completing annual mandatory eLearning
- Establishes and monitors performance expectations, takes appropriate action in collaboration with manager, and human resources where appropriate, when expectations are not met and/or exceeded
- Coaches and mentors staff to foster a positive atmosphere that supports team building, collaboration and shared learning
- Demonstrates an understanding of different levels of expertise (novice to expert) amongst staff and provides support accordingly
- Acts as a resource to team members and ensures information is communicated and circulated to team members and management
- Ensures technologists understand and comply with new policies, procedures and performance standards
- Performs administrative responsibilities to improve processes/procedures and ensure an efficient and effective working environment
- Contributes to the development, implementation and maintenance of new/revised policies, procedures, protocols and performance standards
- Undertakes planning activities that will advance the goals and objectives of the modality
- Drives best practice standards for the modality; including staffing models, equipment utilization, and safety, based on evidence
- Documents problems and incidents when policies and procedures have not been observed and takes appropriate action(s) in collaboration with manager, as required
- Builds and maintains professional relationships with key resource people, professionals, vendors, managers, and patients
- Contributes to performance improvement initiatives to facilitate changes in imaging practice and patient-centered care delivery
- Maintains current knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to view, manipulate and archive digital medical images of data in final image formation
- Anticipates impacts of change on quality assurance procedures and initiates timely adaptations to ensure quality control is maintained
- Observes, understands and ensures staff and departmental compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and with government legislation
- Adheres to hospital and departmental mission and value statements
- Complies with and ensures compliance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, the Medical Radiation Technology Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other relevant government guidelines, regulations and legislation
- Complies with and ensures compliance with and understanding of all relevant clinical and modality policies
- Completion of a recognized Medical Radiation Sciences program required
- Must be certified in contrast injection
- Completion of specialty certificate in area of expertise preferred
- Completion of a Basic Cardiac Life Support program for health care providers preferred
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant program preferred
- Minimum of five years recent CT experience required
- Recent experience in Interventional Radiography preferred
- Previous leadership experience required
- Understanding of technical procedures, operations, and applications required
- Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario required
- Membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists preferred

Hours: Currently Days 8 hours shift, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
SALARY:
Minimum: $44.68 per hour
Maximum: $57.33 per hour
