Position Title: Manufacturing Cost Analyst

Overview
A dynamic manufacturing firm is looking for a sharp, analytically driven professional to join its finance team as a Manufacturing Cost Analyst. This role is critical in tracking and managing product and operational costs, supporting financial transparency, and improving cost control initiatives across the organization. You'll partner with production and supply chain leaders to identify savings opportunities and ensure precise cost reporting.
Primary Duties
Cost Management & Analysis
Update and manage baseline cost data, including materials, logistics, labor, and production overhead
Compare forecasted and real-time costs, investigating deviations and highlighting trends
Collaborate with internal teams to assess and refine cost allocation methodologies
Design and maintain costing models to aid in quoting, pricing decisions, and profit margin evaluations
Support monthly inventory valuation and overhead assessments, ensuring data accuracy and consistency
Track cost absorption metrics and generate reports on cost performance and efficiency
Financial Insight & Reporting
Manage daily banking tasks and assist with account reconciliations
Prepare cash flow projections and assist in liquidity management
Analyze financial variances versus plan and prior periods, delivering data-driven insights
Evaluate profitability across multiple levels, including orders, customers, and products
Contribute to planning cycles by supplying detailed, cost-based input and scenario models
Compliance & Audit Support
Ensure timely submission of indirect tax filings (e.g., HST and provincial/state filings)
Respond to audit inquiries by compiling schedules and financial documentation
Maintain reliable financial records and enforce proper financial controls around costing activities
Ideal Candidate Profile
Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar field
CPA or CMA designation completed or in progress is preferred
Minimum 3 years of hands-on cost accounting experience, ideally in a production or manufacturing setting
Solid understanding of inventory costing, variance tracking, and standard cost systems
Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of ERP platforms
Self-motivated, organized, and able to work cross-functionally under time pressure
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to simplify complex financial information for other teams
