As a member of the Engineering and Maintenance team, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the maintenance and repair of plant machinery, equipment and electrical and mechanical systems are within acceptable levels of quality, costs and safety specific to all materials, documentation and services required to support plant production. This position is also be responsible for providing structured job plans to ensure efficient and effective deployment of necessary maintenance and contract resources and interact on a regular basis with machine operators, maintenance and engineering staff, production supervisors, and other facility personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the maintenance activities of skilled trades employees.
- Responsible for all aspects of job plan development for both planned and scoped work.
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments.
- Initiate the procurement of parts, special tools, and rental equipment required in the job plans. Estimate hours and costs associated for tasks to be performed.
- Troubleshoot & resolve problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and product quality.
- Mentor employees, operators, and supervisors in job duties and safety procedures of primary support systems.
- Maintain master job plan catalogue.
- Develop and maintain annual Preventative Maintenance (PM) calendar and participate in weekly scheduling activities for the various assets within the plant
- Receive all work requests, enter into CMMS with planning information. Generate PM and PdM work orders, distribute to appropriate team members, complete follow up and close all orders.
- Actively participate in root cause analysis and development of new or modified maintenance routines.
- Track equipment repair history, costs, and repetitive repairs using CMMS and other data sources to develop/implement proactive repair planning.
- Maintain master equipment files, and asset database.
- Work closely and collaboratively with engineering and maintenance staff, skilled trades employees and key operations team members to ensure accurate planning information and efficient completion of scheduled work.
- Participate in and manage employee/labour relations activities.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Skilled Trade Certification:
- Dual Ticket (IMM or Pipefitter/Industrial Electrician 442a) highly preferred
- Industrial Electrician 442a
- IMM
- 5+ years of supervisory/leadership experience in a technical/industrial maintenance department within a medium to large industrial manufacturing establishment.
- Must have 3-5 years of labour relations experience managing multiple shifts of unionized skilled trades personnel.
- 3+ years of applied experience troubleshooting electrical & mechanical issues of industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Experience/knowledge in hydraulics & pneumatics, hot oils systems, steam systems, fire protection systems.
- Proficient in Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLC's.
- Strong communication & listening skills with proven success building positive, collaborative relationships both within the team and across the organization.
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office, CMMS, CAD, payroll/time & attendance systems, etc.
- Excellent knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act regulations.
- Training: First Aid/CPR, Confined Space, Emergency Response/Spill Response, Arc Flash, MOL Supervisor Awareness, etc.
- Ideal to have experience in a:
