Salary:

The Youth Support Services Manager oversees the daily operations of the Child and Family Advocacy Unit, working closely with the Director of Family and Community Support Services. This position is dedicated to providing supportive services to children and youth, while fostering collaboration with both internal teams and external service providers to ensure holistic and effective care.

The Manager delivers services using a strengths-based, trauma-informed approachaimed at building resilience, empowering positive change, and transforming adversity into opportunities for growth. This role also involves providing crisis de-escalation and stabilization support to individuals exhibiting high-risk behaviors or experiencing acute emotional distress.

Collaborate in the preparation of applications for Jordans Principle and Post Majority Support Services.

Work closely with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) to ensure seamless service delivery.

Ensure that each case is handled in a culturally appropriate manner, respecting the unique needs of children and families.

Maintain strong connections between children and their siblings, families, extended families, community, and culture, ensuring the preservation of the child's cultural identity, heritage, customs, traditions, and the extended family model.

Facilitate access to services for children and families residing outside the North Shore jurisdiction, monitor the progress of children in care in other regions, and support efforts for repatriation.

Complete necessary administrative tasks and reports in a timely and accurate manner.

Safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of all records, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.

Respect for, sensitivity towards as well as knowledge and understanding of Anishnawbek culture, traditions, and the Seven Grandfather Teachings

Member of, or willingness to register with, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers

Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including families, external service providers, and community organizations.

Ability to manage complex cases and navigate challenging situations with professionalism and sensitivity.

Compassionate and empathetic with a strong commitment to supporting children, youth, and families.

High level of confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive information.

Valid drivers license and vehicle for on-the-job use

Able to work flexible hours at short notice.

Valid within 6 months Vulnerable Sector Check

Is subject to six months probation.

A degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, or a related field is preferred or a diploma in human services program will be considered in conjunction with four years of work experience in a directly related field.

A minimum of [2] years of experience working in child and youth services, preferably in a leadership or management role. Experience working with Indigenous communities and knowledge of Jordan's Principle and related services is highly preferred.

Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, child and youth development, and resilience-building frameworks.

Proven experience in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and working with high-risk behaviors in children and youth.

Familiarity with relevant legislation and policies, including child welfare laws, privacy regulations, and Jordans Principle.

Deep knowledge of Indigenous cultures, communities, and protocols, with a focus on cultural sensitivity and competency.

Strong administrative and reporting skills, including the ability to manage case documentation and prepare detailed reports.

Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to manage staff, provide guidance, and foster a positive, collaborative team environment.
