Muskoka Lumber has locations in Huntsville, Bracebridge, Bala, Mactier and Port Carling, providing quality building products and services to our customers. We offer additional services with our window and door department as well as custom residential design services.
We are seeking an Architectural Technologist to join our team in Port Carling. We have over 20 years experience with a focus on Cottages/Vacation homes, Boathouses and Accessory Buildings. The ideal candidate would have a strong design aesthetic as well as a solid technical understanding of custom wood frame construction and local zoning by-laws.
Qualifications:
Graduate of 2 or 3 year Architectural or Civil Technology program
5 or more years' experience with custom residential design
BCIN Legal, House/Small Buildings, Plumbing House, HVAC House
Valid Driver's license (G)
AATO or CET membership is considered an asset

Organized and able to follow organization standards
Meet or exceed deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication
Ability to take meeting notes and share with design team
Experience using Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Experience using Revit LT and AutoCAD LT
Learn and operate current EWP floor layout software (Sapphire Supply)
Learn and operate single member sizing software (Woodworks)
Learn and operate HVAC design software (Right-Suite Universal)
Experience at researching local by-laws for zoning requirements
Able to talk with contractors and township officials regarding construction documents
Experience talking with EWP/Truss suppliers and other consultants
Job Duties:
Partner with Design Manager or take the lead on a design from concept through to final permit plans with little
to no oversight
Able to create in 3D and 2D using Revit LT and AutoCAD LT
Able to implement different architectural styles and trends into each project
Knowledge of building science and how it relates to occupant comfort in a home
Ability to address multiple projects at once and work with other designers in the office to ensure projects meet timelines
specified by the client
Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and can review and sign off plans with BCIN and submit to local
municipalities
Navigate zoning by-laws to inform clients of building allowances
Communicate effectively with builders and consultants
Co-Ordinate and review EWP & truss manufacturer documents
Review structural drawings completed by Professional Engineer
Print and bind copies and drawings sets for customers
Answer phones and set up meetings or take messages
Filling different roles that come up to help the design team reach set goals
