In-Studio Photographer – Creative Team

Role Overview
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented In-Studio Photographer to join our Creative Team and lead the production of high-quality product imagery. This role is responsible for photographing products in a blank studio setting and editing them into lifestyle environments that showcase their best features.

The ideal candidate is highly visual, self-directed, and able to translate studio setups into realistic and inspiring in-home scenes. They are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing their own shoot schedule, and collaborating across departments to align creative output with business priorities. Experience with video production or an interest in learning this skill is a strong asset.

This is a full-time, on-site position based at our in-house photo studio in Oakville, Ontario. The salary for this role is $50,000–$60,000 annually, based on experience, with comprehensive benefits provided.

Key Responsibilities

Photography & Studio Execution
• Capture product photography in a blank studio setting using props and minimal staging.
• Style and light each shoot to best showcase product functionality and aesthetic appeal.
• Edit and retouch images to simulate in-home settings and deliver final images ready for web, packaging, and retail use.
• Use the Sony a7R III camera for all studio photography.
• Manage studio organization, maintain equipment, and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.

Creative Collaboration
• Work with the Marketing, Product Development, and Sales teams to align on visual needs, usage, and priorities.
• Contribute to creative planning for upcoming shoots and seasonal content.
• Interpret creative briefs and product strategy into strong visual stories.
• Collaborate with the graphic designer to ensure cohesive brand execution across all imagery.

Project & Workflow Management
• Manage your own photo shoot schedule to meet tight and shifting deadlines.
• Maintain organized file naming and archiving systems.
• Ensure all deliverables meet brand standards for quality, consistency, and accuracy.
• Provide creative input and offer solutions when faced with limited props, space, or resources.

Videography Support
• Assist in or lead basic video production for product features or how-to content.
• Edit short-form videos for web, social media, or sales presentations.
• Willingness to expand skills in video direction, lighting, and editing is highly valued.

Growth Path
This role provides the opportunity to shape the visual identity of a growing consumer brand and take creative ownership over product storytelling. Over time, the position can evolve to include art direction responsibilities or expand further into video content creation, based on skills and interests.

Qualifications
• 2+ years of experience in studio or product photography, with a strong portfolio of relevant work.
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom; familiarity with Premiere Pro or similar video editing tools is a plus.
• Strong eye for lighting, composition, styling, and brand alignment.
• Ability to translate studio shots into lifestyle-quality images through editing and compositing.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to work independently.
• Comfortable taking creative initiative and solving visual challenges with limited information.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Experience with video production is a plus, or a demonstrated willingness to learn.
• Degree or diploma in photography, visual arts, or a related field is preferred.
