We are hiring a 1st Class Power Engineer for a long-established Canadian company in Taber, AB.Bringing a strong national presence, this organization manufactures and distributes a wide range of products for both retail and industrial markets. What you'll do as a 1st Class Power Engineer:

1. Operate and maintain 3 power boilers and 2 backpressure turbines to ensure continuous power generation
2. Monitor processes, equipment, temperatures, pressures, and levels to ensure safe 24/7 plant operation
3. Respond to emergencies or abnormal conditions following established procedures
4. Conduct basic troubleshooting, electromechanical maintenance, and operational support with other trades
5. Perform routine tasks including sampling, testing, equipment preparation for maintenance, and housekeeping
6. Occasionally assume duties of the Chief Power Engineer and support continuous improvement initiatives

What you'll bring as a 1st Class Power Engineer:

1. Valid 1st Class Power Engineering Certificate (2nd Class considered if progressing toward 1st)
2. Experience operating and maintaining systems in a 1st Class facility; strong steam, boiler, and turbine knowledge
3. Strong mechanical aptitude; hands-on experience with DCS systems, generators, pumps, compressors, etc.
4. Excellent troubleshooting abilities and understanding of plant safety procedures (e.g., LOTO, Confined Space)
5. Solid communication skills, team player, and leadership potential; WHMIS, TDG, OH&S knowledge preferred
6. Food industry experience is an asset; must be safety-conscious with a strong work ethic and technical capability
