Job Overview:

  • We are seeking an experienced Application Development & Support Specialist to join our IT operations team.
  • This role will be responsible for maintaining the health, performance, and availability of a diverse portfolio of packaged and custom software applications.
  • The ideal candidate has a strong background in application development, system administration, and cloud environments, with the ability to manage and troubleshoot complex systems and support users across various platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide end-to-end application support, including incident resolution, bug fixes, vendor patching, and system upgrades.
  • Administer and support a range of third-party and custom applications, including Intelex, Genetec, ASPEN, Itron MVWeb, Software AG ARIS, AssurX, Canary Systems MultiLogger, Oracle Primavera, and Emerson Machinery Health Management.
  • Manage system performance, capacity, availability, service levels, and configuration.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including installation guides, configuration guides, deployment plans, operational manuals, KBAs, and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Write and maintain secure, high-quality code using Java or .NET and apply best practices in OOP and software development standards.
  • Script and automate tasks using Windows/Azure PowerShell.
  • Configure and manage web/application servers such as IIS and Apache Tomcat/TomEE.
  • Develop and maintain SQL stored procedures, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and interact with MS SQL or Oracle databases.
  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery and operation of enterprise systems.
  • Support Agile development processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Occasionally work overtime to meet project deadlines or resolve urgent system issues.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a system administration and application development/support role.
  • Microsoft Certifications (preferred but not required):
    • MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer)
    • Azure Developer Associate
    • Azure Solutions Architect Expert
    • Cybersecurity Architect Expert


Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Java or .NET with OOP principles.
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, web/app servers, and SQL (T-SQL and PL/SQL).
  • Operational knowledge of SAN/NAS storage systems.
  • Familiarity with entity frameworks, Azure (VMs, Storage Accounts, PostgreSQL Flexible Server).
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with documentation for upgrades, deployments, installations, and knowledge base development.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative in learning new technologies and adapting to evolving technical landscapes.
