The Role
The Quality Control and Lab Technician supports the Quality Control department by performing in-process and final product inspections, conducting lab tests, and maintaining accurate records to ensure products meet established specifications. This role plays a key part in maintaining quality standards and supporting continuous improvement within the lab and production environment.
What You Will Do
Quality Inspections & Testing
- Perform required inspections using measuring instruments and gauges (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers, scales) during various stages of production
- Inspect and pack product samples as needed
- Assist in the Quality Lab with testing on samples as required
- Record test information accurately and notify the QC Supervisor or Lead when data exceeds acceptable limits
- Ensure quality procedures are followed and demonstrate knowledge of the established quality program
Non-Conformance Management & Process Improvement
- Register and follow up on non-conforming products and Hold for Inspection (HFI) material
- Identify, hold, and evaluate non-conforming material
- Follow procedures for on-hold finished product and assist in batch documentation and label preparation
- Make recommendations to operators when process adjustments are needed
- Promote employee awareness of quality standards and participate in weekly team meetings
- Participate in root cause analysis and support corrective/preventive actions
Audits & Documentation
- Provide support during external and internal audits
- Maintain all required quality documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Assist in the preparation of quality-related reports and records
Calibration & Equipment Maintenance
- Perform calibration of measurement equipment according to the established schedule
Statistical Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, organize, and analyze quality data to identify trends and potential process improvements
- Support statistical process control initiatives, including military standard sampling and analysis methods
- Prepare and present quality reports using statistical tools such as histograms, Pareto charts, control charts, and scatter plots
Knowledge & Qualifications
Education and/or credentials in quality control or a related field
Two (2) years' experience in Quality in a manufacturing environment, preferably with packaging products
Proficiency in MS Office, MS Excel and data entry
Use and understanding of precision measuring instruments and gauges
Ability to accurately read measuring devices, diagrams, product specifications and test procedures
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping
