About the Role:
Our client, a well-established engineering services provider in the energy sector, is currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join their growing team in Calgary. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and technically strong professional with experience in medium and high voltage electrical systems design, field support, and project execution.
You'll be contributing to a wide variety of power and industrial projects, supporting everything from design and drafting to commissioning and client interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all aspects of electrical engineering on assigned projects, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Develop and review technical documentation such as:
- Electrical drawings and layouts
- Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
- Three-line diagrams
- Cable and conduit schedules
- Technical specifications and contract documents
- Perform and validate electrical calculations and analysis.
- Conduct power systems studies (e.g., arc flash) using ETAP or SKM software.
- Support the preparation of engineering reports and design reviews under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Apply standard engineering techniques and judgment in solving technical issues.
- Provide input and recommendations to project teams and support internal drafting resources.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety protocols and maintain professional client interactions.
What our client is looking For:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Registration as a P.Eng. in Alberta (APEGA).
- 4–8 years of experience in industries such as utilities, power generation, processing, or mining.
- Proficient in the use of ETAP or similar electrical engineering software.
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code; international standards knowledge is a plus.
Experience with:
- 120/208VAC, 480VAC, 600VAC system designs
- Medium voltage systems (4.16kV to 25kV)
- High voltage systems (138kV to 240kV)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem-solving mindset and collaborative attitude.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
