Requirement Summary

  • Job Role/Title: Structural/Civil Engineer
  • Job Location: Pickering, Ontario, Canada.
  • Job Type: Long-Term Contract opportunity. Initial contract of 12 months, with extensions.
  • Work Hours: 40 Hours per Week, typically Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EST)
  • Work Style: On-site work - 5 days/week in the office required.

NOTE: Bruce Power Secret Clearance / OPG Clearance is highly desired.

MUST HAVE Qualifications for this Role:

  • Professional Engineering Designation in Ontario (P.Eng.)
  • Nuclear experience – OPG preferred
  • Experience - 2-8 years

Positions Overview and Deliverables

  • Under broad supervision, performs higher complexity engineering assignments requiring originality, ingenuity, and the development of new methods or resolution of conflicting objectives by using established methodologies and applying sound engineering principles.
  • Provides advanced structural technical support, guides, and reviews the work of other team members.
  • Provide civil/structural design engineering support for the Steam Generator Replacement Project.
  • Roles include development and verification of calculations as well as analysis of existing structures to support project execution.
  • Provide engineering justification/approval for requested construction changes, and support required design changes to existing engineering documents.
  • Provide knowledge in structural steel and concrete design and installation, and the ability to quickly resolve field issues that warrant engineering changes.

Major Duties:

  • Performs a variety of more complex engineering assignments typically in areas of design, development, analysis, evaluation, testing, preparation of specifications, execution of field tasks, and resolution of field problems.
  • Prepare design change notice (EC) packages per customer engineering change procedures
  • Support field construction and execution activities, including field change notices, design revisions, commissioning, and EC closeout.
  • Receives minimal assistance and instruction on most assignments and solutions.
  • Ensures compliance with government, organization, and customer engineering standards, including CSA S16, A23.3, N291, S136, and S157
  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies a variety of technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making more complex adaptations and modifications.
  • Develops new or adapted products, methods, systems, or models to provide added-value solutions to customers.
  • Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements.
  • Coordinate engineering work performed by subcontractors and vendors
  • Coordinate, review, and verify the work performed by junior staff
  • Coordinates change requests from construction and procurement
  • Works on special projects, as directed.
  • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques, and criteria
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed technical data
  • Ability to develop and maintain good interpersonal relationships
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
