Responsibilities:
- Communicate with clients and discuss options, strategies, and solutions at key junctures of their case so they understand their options and make informed decision
- Providing top-tier client services, including attending mediations, discoveries, and other court proceedings
- Prepare legal documents and pleadings; such as applications, answers, briefs, motion materials, affidavits, etc.
- Handle files from start to finish
- Handle all aspects of files, from intake to resolution, with minimal supervision
- Prepare clients for hearings and trials
- Attend conferences and trials
- Review and prepare materials including pleadings, affidavits, briefs, facta, and other court documents, and to organize disclosure
- Prioritizing case files and handling sensitive information in a time-sensitive manner
- Communicating professionally and courteously with clients and outside counsel
Qualifications:
- LL.B. or J.D. from an accredited law school and a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Experience in one of the areas of law mentioned above
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Reliability, organization skills, the ability to prioritize, multitask, and adhere to strict deadlines
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, coworkers, and other professionals
- Ability to prepare clients for questioning, mediations and all court appearances
- Strong research skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
