Subjects

Victoria Park High School is seeking a Foods teacher who will be responsible for teaching Foods 10/20/30, as well as a sessional Foods Class component for a multi-age alternative program, with the possibility of additional courses being added. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the Hot Lunch class which is responsible for the preparation and provision of the Daily Hot Lunch Program at Victoria Park High School. They will also be responsible to take students on field trips relating to the Foods curriculum (grocery shopping, berry picking etc) and will support students in contributing to school events such as the Chili Cook Off and Annual Turkey Dinner. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, flexible, energetic team player who has;

  • Has an ethic rooted in deep care;
  • Sound practices for creative program delivery that strives for emotional co-regulation;
  • A trauma-informed approach, practicing unconditional positive regard that fosters youth development in an engaging learning environment;
  • The belief in the power of collaboration, teamwork and transferable learning strategies;
  • Previous experience teach Foods at a high school level (considered an asset);
  • A commitment to providing alternative learning opportunities and outreach supports;
  • Demonstrated commitment to life-long learning and engagement in anti-oppressive teaching practices;
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.

Conditions of Employment

In order to ensure and maintain a safe and secure working and learning environment, applicants new to Lethbridge School Division who are offered employment must provide:

  • A police information check; including Vulnerable Sector Check from Police Services or an RCMP detachment that does not have any charges or convictions.
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
  • Proof of photo identification, may be a valid driver's licence, provincial identification card as issued by a licensed government registry office, valid passport or Nexus card. If one cannot be provided, a new card must be obtained and proof of application provided within three days of hire.
  • Documentation of a valid Social Insurance Number in the employee's legal name. If valid Social Insurance documentation in the current legal name can not be provided, the successful candidate will be required to obtain a new one within three days of hire.
