Reporting to the Transportation Supervisor, this position is responsible for ensuring / establishing best practices for static based restaurant routing, route changes, equipment utilization and project rerouting that supports the Langley Distribution Center. Demonstration of superior customer service, safety, cost efficiency, and compliance with TDL policies and applicable government legislation are key factors of this role.
This recruitment post is for full-time role based at our Distribution Centre located at 5150 272 St, Langley City, BC V4W 1S3. The incumbent shall be on an Afternoon shift schedule working a Bi-weekly Shift Schedule from 5:00 AM till 5:00 PM – Week 1 – Tue, Wed, Sat Week 2 – Sun, Mon, Thu, Fri.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support Transportation Supervisors by answering phone and handling requests by drivers and stores
- Dispatch all TDL routes and drivers for the day
- Ensure routing optimization and efficiently process route change requests
- Monitor and maintain equipment scheduling
- Monitor and co-ordinate tractor trailer repairs and maintenance
- Respond to road break downs and emergencies
- Follow up on driver concerns, equipment repair and maintenance requests
- Co-ordinate back hauls with inventory staff
- Maintain driver schedule, including vacation and sick days
- Liaise with Warehouse Operations to ensure effective communication of departure times, equipment availability, trailer loading, back-hauls and returns
- Support payment of invoices and PO creation
- Monitor and maintain map database as required
- Perform other duties, as required to support operations
Required Skills:
- 2+ years of experience in similar position
- Previous experience with routing and customer service is preferred
- Knowledge of Class 1 driving / rules and regulations related to commercial truck operation is preferred
- Mechanical knowledge of tractor / trailers as well as equipment maintenance processes is preferred
- Strong Computer Skills (MS Office, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal/team skills
- Ability to work independently with initiative
- Demonstrated ability to compile data, analyze and summarize findings
- Exceptional customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in ambient (room temperature) as well as freezer (approx. -20 degree Celsius) zones
- Proven track record of safety and reliability
- Effective verbal communication skills and the ability to read and follow written instructions
- Willingness to participate in ongoing development and to be cross-trained in various areas of Distribution
