What will you do as a Regulatory and Compliance Specialist?The Regulatory and Compliance Specialist will play a key role in ensuring our products meet global regulatory requirements and uphold our commitment to quality. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for product regulation and certification. You will be responsible for obtaining and managing product type approvals, maintaining regulatory evidence, and navigating the complexities of global compliance. This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in diverse tasks and initiatives that directly impact the quality and compliance of our services and products. While ideal for professionals with a background in regulatory compliance, candidates with a strong foundation in Environmental Science are also encouraged to apply.- Collaborate with product development teams to secure timely certifications for parts and systems.
- Ensure purchased components and sub-assemblies comply with relevant environmental and safety standards, including RoHS, REACH, UL, CE, CSA, ISO, IPC-A-610, and Conflict Minerals.
- Review and address Product Change Notices (PCNs) from component manufacturers, assessing their impact on compliance.
- Participate in engineering and certification tests, validating results and documenting findings.
- Prepare and submit applications for compliance certificates within required time frames.
- Develop and maintain certification plans, including managing the quotation and estimation process.
- Participate in product safety reviews and committees; organize and lead certification reviews.
- Stay informed about changes to relevant standards and regulations, proactively assessing their impact on the organization.
- Contribute to environmental compliance initiatives (RoHS/REACH) and support corporate sustainability practices.
- Analyze cross-functional requirements to ensure component, sub-assembly, product, and system specifications meet compliance needs.
- Document compliance, prepare and file Declarations of Conformity.
- Review all new part requests, engineering change orders and deviations to ensure that requirements are met and maintained.
- Monitor upcoming changes to product safety and compliance regulations and standards to ensure the organization's adherence for both new and existing products. Evaluate the impact of new market entries (e.g., expansion into new countries, applications) on product regulations and standards.
- Serve as a primary point of contact with external agencies for product testing and certification, ensuring compliance with requirements, including those of the US and Canada.
- Act as the Safety Officer, responsible for evaluating, testing, and completing CDRH and EN 60825-1 laser safety reports.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to ISO standards, ESG initiatives, and other applicable regulatory compliance areas.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to foster cross-functional alignment and communicate regulatory updates and program information, including best practices, progress reports, and KPIs.
- Contribute to the development and achievement of annual measurable objectives set by management.
- Adhere to all policies outlined in the Employee Policy Manual.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, chemical, electrical, mechanical, electronics, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with regulatory agencies such as UL, CE, and CSA.
- At least 5-year experience with regulatory agencies, UL, CE, and CSA.
- Deep knowledge of product environmental and safety compliance regulations and standards, including EU RoHS, REACH, and WEEE directives, and Conflict Minerals regulations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with technical personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with mechanical safety requirements.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Salary Range: $66,400 CAD - $94,620 CAD
