The role involves revenue accounting responsibilities for a major Canadian organization, ensuring compliance with U.S. accounting regulations and US GAAP standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting for revenue-generating projects, including the preparation of month-end reports, commentaries, and variance analyses for senior management.
- Oversee the review process of sales contracts and provide input on customer opportunities.
- Review and approve monthly commission payments for the sales team.
- Support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team with forecasting and budgeting, conduct quarterly reviews of material contracts, and manage the rebate and royalties process.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects and business initiatives.
- Assist in the production of customer invoices and manage related authorization workflows.
- Assess accounting treatments for various revenue topics, including recognition, rebates, and discounts.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in management accounting with a university degree in accounting.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
- Experience in foreign currency accounting, as well as report writing and maintenance.
- Proficiency in Oracle Financial systems.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience reviewing complex, multi-element Contracts and Master Agreements.
- Strong background in revenue accounting and understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition.
- Experience working in a global corporate environment.
- Exposure to offshore shared service centers.
- Familiarity with Hyperion and Essbase.
