Description:
The Applications Engineer is responsible for providing efficient and professional technical and commercial support to internal and external customers for our ES-ZeeWeed products business within the industrial and municipal industries. The Application Engineer will work to develop solutions to upgrade existing customer systems and support the capital sales of configurable equipment. The Application Engineer will develop proposals with accurate scope and pricing, considering the mechanical, civil, electrical, controls and process constraints of the current operation and customer specifications. The person in this role will determine the scope in coordination with the commercial sales and other internal teams and then prepare costing and proposal documentation for the customer to review pricing.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop solutions to customer challenges in creative ways.
  • Work with Sales teams and directly with customers, their engineering representatives, our Veolia WTS teams to review existing facilities, identify unique constraints at site, and identify options that will solve the customers' challenge.
  • Evaluate and respond to internal and external customer inquiries (technical requests, product availability, pricing, etc.) by reviewing specifications, drawings and other documents to prepare budgets, bids, or proposals
  • Prepare detailed budget and firm proposals by gathering details and compiling data to estimate all engineering and production costs according to customer specifications
  • Determine material, assembly and commissioning estimates utilising quotations, vendor contact, catalogues, cost standards and historical data
  • Determine freight cost to the jobsite from the expected fabrication location
  • Work in conjunction with Supply Chain on schedule and forecasting
  • Establish and maintain files and records on cost and specifications of equipment, products, and components
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of common changes at customer sites and share lessons learned and best practices globally.
  • Prepare documentation and participate in contract kickoff meetings to transfer projects to the execution group
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Engineering
  • At least 5 years work experience in an organization providing equipment and solutions, preferably to municipalities, industrial customers, consulting engineers, and contractors
  • Knowledge of water treatment industry
  • Understanding of specifications and addendums and translating them from feasibility concept, design to equipment supply, startup, commissioning
  • Knowledge of ZeeWeed or other Ultrafiltration membrane systems. Additional experience with other water treatment technologies a benefit.
  • Hands-on or field experience with water treatment equipment is an asset.

  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Understanding of project bid and estimating process
  • Understanding of treatment systems, electrical systems and controls
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Excellent understanding of mechanical equipment and engineering fundamentals
  • Strong water treatment or manufacturing environment knowledge
  • Able to read P&IDs, single line diagrams and construction drawings
  • Capable of working independently, prioritising, multi-tasking, and organising
  • Ability to set goals and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening)
  • Proven problem-solving skills and shown ability to provide creative solutions.
