ICTC is seeking a dynamic and strategic Director of Communications to lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy. This senior leadership role will position ICTC as a go-to national voice on digital policy, talent development, innovation, and economic inclusion.
The Director will oversee and integrate all facets of communications, media relations, branding, digital marketing, and stakeholder engagement. A key focus will be effectively marketing ICTCs organizational impact, its programs and services, and its research and policy portfolio to diverse audiences, including policymakers, industry leaders, funders, and the broader public.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Communications & Marketing Leadership
- Develop and execute an integrated communications and marketing strategy that elevates ICTCs visibility, credibility, and impact.
- Proactively position ICTC and its leadership as thought leaders in digital transformation, workforce development, and public policy.
- Market the organizations programs, initiatives, and services to government, industry, education, and civil society partners.
- Promote ICTCs policy and research outputs as trusted sources of evidence for decision-making across public and private sectors.
Stakeholder Engagement & Brand Management
- Shape the organizations voice and narrative to resonate with a broad range of stakeholders, including federal and provincial policymakers, businesses, academic institutions, and community organizations.
- Ensure consistent brand identity, messaging, and storytelling across all internal and external touchpoints.
- Strengthen ICTCs profile through strategic participation in national and international forums, conferences, and public discourse.
Media & Public Relations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, influencers, and digital platforms.
- Oversee the development of press releases, op-eds, speeches, and media kits.
- Coach other spokespersons on public communication and media engagement.
Digital Content & Campaigns
- Oversee the creation of compelling digital content that showcases ICTCs impact, including newsletters, blogs, reports, infographics, videos, and social media assets.
- Design and implement integrated marketing campaigns for programs, research publications, and events.
- Monitor analytics to inform strategy, refine messaging, and ensure campaign effectiveness.
Internal Communications & Culture Building
- Foster transparency, alignment, and engagement through strategic internal communications.
- Support leadership in delivering timely, clear, and mission-aligned messages to staff.
Team Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Manage and mentor a high-performing communications team.
- Work closely with program leads, researchers, and policy analysts to distill complex content into clear, engaging messages.
- Align communications and marketing efforts with organizational priorities, funding strategies, and partnership goals.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- 810+ years of progressive experience in strategic communications, marketing, or public affairs, ideally within the nonprofit, government, or technology sectors.
- Proven experience marketing organizational programs and translating complex research and/or policy insights for a variety of audiences.
- Demonstrated success in media relations, stakeholder engagement, and brand strategy.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and public speaking skills.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is a strong asset.
- Strong leadership and project management abilities.
- Deep understanding of Canadas digital economy, policy environment, and innovation ecosystem.
