We are looking for a Financial Analyst II to join our team!

The Financial Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Finance Manager in executing the day-to-day finance operations of the organization. This will include reporting, supporting general accounting and assisting with audit functions as required. The Finance Analyst will collaborate with functional specialists to support the organizations financial reporting for management and funders, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and driving reporting efficiencies.

Status: Permanent full-time, 37.5 hours per week (additional requirements such as evening hours and weekends may be required); Note, this posting is for an active vacancy
Salary: $66,097.08 - $77,761.28 (Candidate qualifications will be considered when determining the starting salary)
Location: This position is based out of our 601-7700 Hurontario St, Brampton office. Although we operate within a hybrid workplace model, staff are required to have on-site and/or community presence as per program and client needs.

What You Will Do:

  • Assist with various accounting duties to help ensure month end closes are completed in a timely manner, prepare journal entries, month end reporting as well as year-end closing.
  • Reconcile monthly, quarterly, annual general ledger account balances for accuracy and up to date financial data.
  • Prepare financial and statistical reports for Ontario Health and other funders, ensuring alignment between financial systems and reporting requirements while maintaining organizational compliance with funding guidelines and regulatory standards. Assist in the preparation of financial reports for internal use by collecting, analyzing and formatting information.
  • Perform variance analysis on financial statement accounts and partner reports and provide the Finance Manager with feedback on discrepancies to support informed decision-making and alignment with organizational strategy. Coordinate with all partners and manage reporting requirements including posting monthly entries, recording accruals when necessary and conducting year-end reconciliation.
  • Provide support during the annual interim/year-end financial audit process.
  • Work with other finance team members and functional departments in the ongoing operations of financial reporting and the generation of reports in a collaborative team model.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements to drive team efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and contribute to the advancement of organizational strategic objectives.

What You Need to Join Our Team:

  • Post secondary degree/diploma in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • CPA designation (or near completion) with a minimum of 3 years of finance experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of accounting software, preferably Great Plains.
  • Experience working in the not-for-profit sector with an interest in health care or a related field.
  • Knowledge of fund accounting principles and the not-for-profit accounting standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to approach, listen, build trust, and communicate across diverse cultures and intersectionality. Willingness to continually improve understanding around cultural competence.
  • Openness to operate from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and intersectional framework.
  • Willingness to learn and apply practical understanding of different elements of diversity, such as gender identity/expression, race/cultural background, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration and precarious status, family status, etc.
  • Fluency in a second language, including ASL (American Sign Language) is considered an asset.
  • Ability to travel within and around Peel Region and Dufferin County.
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report.
