Job Summary

The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for leading innovative solutions within the Application Engineering Group. This role includes validating products for specific use cases, designing, and implementing customer-specific hardware and software, and developing applications to showcase Delta IBT products.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cross-brand product solutions while collaborating with Product Management and Product Development.
  • Lead beta testing efforts at customer sites.
  • Manage projects and contracts for application engineering efforts, and create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance product offerings and act as a subject matter expert.
  • Evaluate and integrate third-party devices and software with Delta IBT products.
  • Mentor and guide intermediate and junior engineers.

Authority

The Senior Application Engineer has the authority to review and sign-off for numerous steps in product solution development process, including:

  • Conceptual Design, Detail Design and Implementation.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of building controls and control theory
  • Hands-on experience with Delta IBT systems and tools, including Node-RED, Python, and GCL+
  • Familiarity with sensors, wireless technologies, and IoT systems
  • Experience in electronic design and manufacturing environments
  • Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP)
  • Experience with contract management and negotiation
  • Knowledge of sustainable building standards and practices (e.g., LEED, WELL, ASHRAE Guideline 36)
  • Familiarity with quality management systems in a technical or manufacturing context

Key Attributes and Experience:

  • 5–7 years of relevant industry experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, Integrated, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; alternatively, a diploma in Robotics, Instrumentation, Computer Control, or similar discipline
  • Proven ability to lead and deliver complex engineering projects

Work Location: In Office (Currently 3 days a week, subject to change)

Salary: $88,000 - $116,000
This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.
