Salary:

$47.83 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% in lieu of benefits on regular earnings, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay day.

Description:

NLC's Practical Nursing Program requires a temporary, full-time instructor to deliver APNP 136: Consolidated Practice Experience A.

This clinical experience provides learners with the opportunity to integrate theory from the Access level into practice. Learners will practice with ageing clients and/or those with chronic illness in residential care settings. Medication administration, nursing care, organization, comprehensive health assessment, wound care and introduction to leadership are emphasized in this course.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion of an accredited Diploma in Practical Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or another relevant undergraduate degree or professional qualification may be considered.
  • Current practicing license as an LPN, RPN, RN or NP with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives with no limits or conditions or another relevant professional license.
  • Minimum two years (full-time equivalent) of recent Canadian nursing experience.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team member.
  • Committed to student motivation and achievement; and
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Preferred:

  • Completed course work in Indigenous cultural safety and humility.
  • Teaching experience as a nurse or health care professional; and/or
  • A credential in adult education, such as the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program.
