Information Technology (IT) Manager: Position Overview:The Information Technology (IT) Manager will ensure the strategic direction, implementation, and management of all IT operations across the organization, serving 1500 employees across 16 divisions. This role requires someone who has a strong ability to build relationships, this role has 8 direct reports, with functional responsibilities over end user support, IT Infrastructure & Systems maintenance, administration and support, IT asset management, health and safety and ISO.

Key Responsibilities:

General:

  • Gain a thorough understanding of our business and to identify, recommend and apply technologies to improve our business processes.

  • Proactively manage our multiple location technology infrastructure to allow for detailed planning, growth and continued improvement.

  • Ensure that all communication between the IT Department and other associates, management & executive is clear, concise and properly documented. This would include conducting presentations to the executive team members.

  • Develop requirements, budgets and schedules for IT projects. Work with vendors and relevant staff members to ensure project goals are achieved on time and on budget.

  • Manage IT department requests, priorities & activities.

  • Recruit, select, train, coach, manage, inspire, support and lead our IT team to produce quality work and on a timely basis.

  • Assist users with H/W & S/W issues as required.

  • Design, develop, implement and maintain all IT processes. Ensure that these processes are documented and that that documentation is maintained and up to date.

End User Support:

  • Ensure that general IT support is provided to our various divisions with their IT requirements as requested included support/assistance with third party products as required e.g. Keytraks, Mitchell, photocopiers, credit/debit card machines, telephony systems, etc.

  • Liaise with and provide support to third party suppliers as required by our IT infrastructure or as requested by our divisions.

  • Assist divisions with planning/review of software, hardware and “near IT” components as required.

  • Track user support requests – identify trends and make recommendations.

IT Infrastructure Maintenance, Administration & Support:

  • Identify, research and recommend changes or upgrades to our existing IT infrastructure to address changing organizational needs due to growth, process change or technologic landscape changes.

  • Coordinate ordering, installation, maintenance and upgrading of IT infrastructure equipment including connectivity solutions, hardware, software, switches, wiring, wireless components, peripherals, etc.

  • Liaise with and coordinate with 3rd party suppliers as required

  • Ensure ongoing operation of all backup systems.

  • Ensure IT support is provided for third party suppliers as required e.g. Keytraks, Mitchell, photocopiers, credit/debit card machines, telephony systems, etc.

IT Systems Maintenance, Administration & Support:

  • Ensure that user accounts are created and maintained as required.

  • Ensure that various user lists are generated and maintained as required, including security groups, distribution groups, web access groups, etc.

  • Become familiar with and act as backup administrator for manufacturers information portals as required e.g. Infostream

  • Ensure all IT rules based solutions are maintained & updated as required e.g. email filtering, web access control, etc.

IT Asset Management:

  • Track and monitor IT spending. Make recommendations for improved expense controls & coordinate implementation of approved changes

  • Maintain log of existing hardware. Monitor age/status of current equipment and make recommendations for replacement

  • Maintain future expense forecasting tools considering future replacement cost of existing system based on expected life and prepare data to assist with annual budgeting process.

ISO:

  • Become familiar with and comply with all ISO procedures and processes

  • Report any non-compliances to Quality Manager

Health & Safety:

  • Become familiar with and comply with health and safety rules and regulations.

  • Report any unsafe or unhealthy conditions and all first aid cases to supervisor

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years IT Management experience

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Active Directory architecture, networking technologies, advanced network protocols, client-server technologies, and multi-vendor environments

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

  • A valid Ontario class “G” driver's license, with ability to travel across the GTA.
