The expected starting base salary for this position is $83,528 - $88,336 annually, depending on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.The college takes a total reward approach to compensation. What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Manager, Business Analyst, under the project direction (project assignment and prioritization) of a Project Manager (PM), the Business Analyst I works with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand the business context and to evaluate business needs and requirements. In using data and information collected from the requirements gathering process, the BA I will design optimized business processes, follow standards to create the documentation of technical and non-technical requirements and propose, recommendations and solutions for those processes.
Specific to the project, the BA I will focus on collaborating with project teams to define solution scope, create and execute comprehensive test plans, track defects, and ensure traceability. They will lead regression and end-to-end testing efforts, including test automation, to support seamless software releases.
Key Accountabilities
- Collaborate with the project team to discuss the solution scope and identify test scenarios and create comprehensive test plans. Identify and track defects and ensured bi-directional traceability between requirements, test cases and bugs. Monitor and analyze test results and identified root causes of bugs.
- Plan and conduct regression testing and collaborate with the project team to ensure seamless releases. Collaborate with the project team to plan and develop end-to-end testing automation.
- Under the direction of a Project Manager, researches and analyzes business drivers and supports the business to question, detect and document specific business needs.
- In consultation with Project Managers and senior BAs to pre-define the scope, chooses the right techniques, conducts work sessions and appropriate activities (e.g., elicitation) for business analysis information gathering and confirms the results obtained with all applicable stakeholders.
- Prepares accurate and detailed business requirements documents (BRDs), mock-ups for prototype, and functional specification documents, e.g., business process flowcharts, as per team and organizational standards and collected business analysis information; presents documented requests to the business process owners or SMEs for signoff and to project team for solutions that meet organizational standards, whilst being supported by the team lead.
- Working with a Project Manager, facilitates the ongoing collaboration with the stakeholders throughout the project life cycle; ensures all stakeholders (business process owners, SMEs, project team and other impacted stakeholders) are informed of all planned system changes and progress of issue resolutions.
- In consultation with SMEs, creates and manages product backlog items, leads backlog item grooming sessions, and identifies the backlog priority; breaks down product items into user stories; for technology enabled processes, works closely with System Analysts (SA) to ensure the requirements are complete, unambiguous and consistent with other related system requirements.
- Sets up solution acceptance criteria; validates outputs and reviews the impact of implemented resolutions over time by gathering and analyzing user feedback to ensure all requirements and designs align with business requirements and support the delivery of the needed value.
- In consultation with a Project Manager, coordinates and facilitates user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure requested features are successfully deployed without impact to existing functionality; in conjunction with the Project Manager, obtains business sign off on completed UAT.
- With a continuous improvement mindset, identifies opportunities and recommends enhancements to existing business procedures, including identifying process deficiencies, user operational inefficiencies and ways of improving business efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related discipline, plus a minimum of 3 years recent related experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 – Power Platform, Microsoft Dataverse and CRM is an asset; or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Demonstrated understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle and Agile, Scrum project management methodology, BA modelling and requirements gathering tools and process mapping.
- Demonstrated experience in visual thinking and ability of finding suitable BA tools to represent complex information in an understandable textual and/or visual model to engage audience and connect them quickly to critical information for further inputs
- Demonstrated understanding of business process streamlining and re-engineering. Ability to analyze system/operational problems and recommend innovative solutions
- Demonstrated problem solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terminologies and convey the intended outcome
- Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders with varied systems knowledge
- Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset, good understanding of change management concepts and ability to recognize potential limitations and opportunities and risks
- Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to understand and manage the customer expectations
- Demonstrated proficiency in using MS Word, Excel, PPT, Visio and basic data analysis tools and methodology
- Ability to work effectively independently and as a collaborative member of a team
- Ability to organize and manage concurrent projects and activities, keeping team members and stakeholders informed of progress and significant issues
- Demonstrated initiative and self-direction abilities with good time management skills
- Knowledge and experience with modern quality assurance concepts and practice is an asset.
- ECBA+, CCBA or candidates for IIBA CBAP certification is an asset
- CSM, CSPO, Agile Business Analyst certification is an asset.
- Knowledge of Canadian colonial impacts on Indigenous people in social and health contexts, including social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities and knowledge of Indigenous-specific anti-racism and accompanying reports (e.g. The Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), the In Plain Sight Report (2020), and Reclaiming Power and Place's Calls for Justice (2019)) is an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, and cultural humility as they apply to health care is an asset.
