The Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC) is a 100% Indigenous-owned, diversified investment and management holding company that has successfully cultivated a growth-oriented portfolio across various industries. IDC is one of Canadas most successful Indigenous development corporations with significant holdings in Northern and Southern Canada. IDCs Northern business subsidiaries that are the focus of this role include a retail store operation, a construction company, a hotel/restaurant, a camp services company, a regional airline, and a property management company. This group of companies generates about $70 million in annual revenues and employs about 150 people.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to Controller, the Controller - IDC will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of IDC, ensuring the integrity of financial data, and managing all aspects of financial reporting. The role involves providing leadership to the accounting team, managing financial performance, and ensuring compliance with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and strategic goals of IDC. The Controller will also be responsible for overseeing the organizations internal controls, audit processes, and risk management, ensuring the highest standards of financial integrity. The Controller will support the CFO in strategic decision-making and ensure that financial data aligns with organizational objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must be/have:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, including leadership roles.
  • CPA designation.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, ASPE, and tax regulations.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, strategic financial management, and overseeing internal controls.
  • Experience with managing audits and external reporting requirements.
