THE ROLE

We are looking for an Senior Designer who is highly professional and focused for theirMiltonlocation.

The Designer reports directly to the Director of Engineering and works closely with the President. We are looking for someone who has experience in working with sheet metal. This is a great opportunity to focus on the creation of airport equipment. Specifically focusing on the sheet metal design.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the end-to-end design process for custom ground support equipment, from concept through production.
  • Create and maintain detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), product documentation, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Ensure designs meet performance, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, methodologies, and best practices to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Champion innovation and technology advancement, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and customer specifications.
  • Manage CAD material databases and templates.
  • Perform engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) studies to validate design projects and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with project management and sales teams to understand customer requirements and translate them into design solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and key deliverables.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong technical expertise in mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and product development
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to build consensus and obtain organizational alignment for initiatives
  • Ability to listen and communicate concisely and effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in using relevant software and tools for project management and data analysis
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Knowledge of aviation industry regulations and standards is a plus

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent knowledge, training, and experience.
  • 5-7 years of work experience with a strong focus on sheet metal part, sub-assembly, and assembly design.
  • Advanced skill in SolidWorks CAD and PDM, with a portfolio demonstrating 3D modeling capability.
  • Engineering/Engineering Technologist degree preferred.
  • CAD training programs/Diploma.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on collaboration and team-oriented approach.
  • Highly motivated, accountable, and committed to continuous improvement.
