Turnover Coordinator
Location: Burnaby, BC
Job Type: Full-time, Approx. 1 year plus contract
Salary Range: $40.00 - $60.00/hr
Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Turnover Coordinator to support a large-scale oil & gas refinery expansion project in Burnaby, BC. Working for a respected mechanical contracting firm, this role is critical in ensuring the smooth and timely handover of completed systems by coordinating documentation, inspections, and final deliverables. The ideal candidate brings experience in heavy industrial construction, a strong grasp of turnover and commissioning processes, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced project environment.
Must Haves
  • 3+ years of experience in turnover coordination, project management, or a related field within heavy industrial sectors
  • Strong understanding of turnover documentation, including commissioning records, as-built drawings, inspection reports, and safety certifications
  • Solid knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, piping, and construction processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and PDF markup tools like Bluebeam

Nice to Haves
  • Experience in oil & gas refinery projects or similar heavy industrial environments
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera
  • Understanding of QA/QC processes and construction turnover procedures for mechanical scopes
  • Background in coordinating with commissioning teams during final project stages
  • Training or certifications related to HSE or quality management

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and coordinate the full turnover process for an oil & gas refinery expansion project
  • Manage and compile all turnover documentation including test packages, inspection records, and safety certifications
  • Track and report on turnover milestones, ensuring timely handover to the client
  • Work closely with project management, engineering, QA/QC, and commissioning teams to ensure deliverables are aligned
  • Address deficiencies and ensure all outstanding items are closed before formal turnover
  • Maintain clear and organized documentation for audit and client review
  • Support quality inspections and final walkdowns as needed
  • Ensure compliance with site-specific safety standards and company protocols
  • Facilitate communication between field staff, subcontractors, and client representatives to resolve issues
  • Confirm contractual obligations are fully met prior to project handover
