You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting standards, managing the dealership's accounting team including the team that prepares payroll, preparing and analyzing financial statements and driving continuous improvement in our financial and operational processes. Job Duties:
Reporting:
- Produce and analyze financial statements.
- Preparing all monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required by the Senior Leadership or General Manager including, but not limited to, monthly reconciliations, monthly and quarterly reporting to Head Office, financial analysis, year-end reporting, etc.
- Completing analysis or requests made by the Senior Leadership and/or General Manager.
Leadership & Management:
- Management of dealership accounting staff.
- Oversee the processing of payroll and payroll team.
- Oversee or perform tasks to ensure financial functions are reconciled monthly including, but not limited to, cash, accounts receivables, warranty, prepaid expenses, manufacturer statements, vehicle deal commissioning, intercompany accounts, accounts payable, tax remittances, etc.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures and controls to facilitate accurate and timely information along with appropriately safeguarding company assets.
- Assist in the development and preparation of financial forecasts and budgets as necessary.
- Review and maintain contracts with key suppliers.
Overall:
- Ensure tax and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare accounts for payment and verify data in system.
- Follow up on past due accounts and returned checks.
- Post new retail and fleet deals.
- Post invoices.
- Reconcile statements.
- Disburse cheques.
Successful Candidates Possess:
- Minimum of 5 years accounting experience.
- Dealership experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of CDK is an asset.
- Have strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Are a self-starter with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Accounting or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel is required.
