THE OPPORTUNITY
Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Triton) is seeking a talented, highly motivated, and enthusiastic Senior Aquatic Project Manager to join a well-established team of environmental professionals!
This role would be based out of our Edmonton AB office location. However, there other Triton office locations that also looking to hire experienced aquatic biologist, as well as environmental professionals who have a keen interest in doing project management related work.
You will get the chance to be apart of, and help lead, exciting ongoing projects that are integral to the local and provincial community. Our project managers are the cornerstone of our company and are committed to outstanding customer service. Our client base ranges from regional clients to multi-national oil & gas companies, government, First Nations, power management, and transportation firms. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the on-time and on-budget delivery of projects, spearheading business development, and providing mentorship.
This position will appeal to someone who has an aquatic biology technical background, enjoys client relations and project management, and has passion for working within the dynamic environmental consulting industry.
This position will be accountable for project management related duties, while also acting as an aquatic biology subject matter expert.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Planning, organizing, and managing a diverse array of projects, programs, people, and tasks, that are mostly related to aquatic biology
- Provide technical leadership on the aquatic biology components of our projects
- Provide an understanding of environmental Best Management Practices and advise clients accordingly.
- Understanding and managing project revenue
- Liaising and negotiating with other partners, clients, regulators, contractors, and sub-contractors
- Writing high-quality reports, cost estimates, and proposals
- Creating project status reports and maintaining project documentation
- Manage tasks and projects according to approved scopes of works and deliver quality reports on schedule.
- Leading technical teams to ensure the quality, cost, and timeliness of deliverables
- Providing mentorship and training for our environmental professional team
- Providing excellent service to existing clients and maintaining those relationships
- Supporting corporate business development initiatives
- Ensuring clients and Tritons safety standards are maintained or exceeded
- Working collaboratively within Tritons corporate culture
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology, environmental science, or related field
- Previous experience working in an environmental consulting firm and/or experience working in a similar role is preferred
- Experience with project management, leading projects, as well as leading project teams (i.e., budgeting, project tracking, cost-accounting and scope control)
- Technical knowledge in aquatics and fisheries biology
- Ideally have some experience with relevant aquatic field work, environmental monitoring and/or environmental inspection
- Knowledge of and experience with provincial and federal environmental standards, regulations or guidelines, including having a understanding of the Federal Fisheries Act
- Business development acumen (e.g., client relationships, strategic planning, proposal writing)
- A quick learner, easily adaptable to new software applications, systems, and business processes
- Effective writing skills and able to produce meaningful reports and proposals
- Excellent organizational skills, able to take initiative and drive results, effective problem solver, and able to think outside the box when required
- Ability to work within a team setting, having a collaborative working style, and able to build and cultivate strong working relationships
- Valid driver's licence from a Canadian province or territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting

SCHEDULE
This position is a full-time, permanent position.
Triton promotes and encourages a collaborative working team culture; hence a hybrid work schedule is preferred (remote and coming into the office). However, there could be potential to make the schedule more flexible, including having a more remote working schedule.
