Our team is driven by a shared commitment to improving the health of our community by supporting our hospital. We are collaborative, purpose-driven, and value innovation, feedback, and diverse perspectives. Together, we create meaningful impact through philanthropy.
Guided by our values of accountability, innovation, empowerment and collaboration, we strive to ensure that our hospital has the resources to provide the people of Milton and the surrounding area high quality healthcare close to home.
In order to ensure that Milton District Hospital is able to remain a state-of-the-art healthcare facility, Milton District Hospital Foundation raises funds for essential medical equipment and technology required by health care providers to diagnose, treat and care for patients living in our community. All donations made to MDHF remain in Milton.

We're seeking a Senior Development Officer, Communications & Stewardship to lead MDHF's communications strategy and donor stewardship program. This is a key role that amplifies our mission, deepens relationships, and grows support for health care in our community.
Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Development Officer, you will:
Communications Strategy & Content
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-channel communications strategy aligned with MDHF's goals.
- Write and produce compelling fundraising and marketing materials including newsletters, impact reports, annual reports, digital campaigns, and donor appeals.
- Craft patient stories, donor testimonials, and community narratives that inspire giving and highlight impact.
- Oversee and grow MDHF's online presence, including website, email campaigns, and social media.
Fundraising & Stewardship
- Collaborate with fundraising teams to create materials for annual campaigns and legacy giving.
- Support the preparation of grant applications and proposals for private and public foundations.
- Lead the donor stewardship program — thank-you calls, annual newsletter, impact reports, cards of thanks, and creative donor recognition.
- Identify opportunities for sponsorships (e.g., print sponsor, event partners).
Brand & Community Engagement
- Maintain and evolve MDHF's brand voice and visual identity across all platforms.
- Represent MDHF at community and donor events.
- Analyze and report on communication effectiveness to inform future strategies.
- Support special projects and campaigns as assigned.
We're looking for someone who brings both creativity and structure — a strong writer, a strategic thinker, and a team player.
Required:
- Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, fundraising, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years' experience in communications, fundraising, or nonprofit marketing.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a strong eye for storytelling.
- Proficiency in digital content creation tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Premiere Pro).
- Experience managing websites, email marketing, and social media channels.
- Strong project management, time management, and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners.
- Professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for events.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in the healthcare or nonprofit sector.
- Familiarity with donor motivations and stewardship best practices.
- Understanding of analytics tools to assess campaign performance.
