The Role
Our client is a growing and reputable food establishment based inDelta, BC, and on their behalf, we are looking for aGrading Supervisor. This is a full-time, permanent, morning shift between Monday and Saturday, having shift times on either a Monday to Friday schedule or Tuesday to Saturday on certain weeks. Requiring flexibility to accommodate shift times starting at 5:30 AM, 9:30 AM, or 10:30 AM, depending on shipment schedules.
The Grading Supervisor, among 4-5 additional leads will supervise a team of 60-100 associates and supporting the Packhouse Manager with scheduling, KPI traction and improvement, inventory control checks, LEAN procedures, scheduling grading line changes, reporting staffing requirements, preparing customer samples, and monitoring machinery efficiency and report any defaults to the Maintenance team.
Responsibilities
- Training & Development: Ensure all team members are fully trained on equipment usage and operational protocols.
- Production Scheduling: Organize and coordinate grading line transitions for optimal workflow.
- Staff Coordination: Report daily labor needs to the appropriate department and oversee staff deployment.
- Performance Oversight: Supervise team performance to ensure standards in productivity, quality control, safety, hygiene, and attendance are consistently achieved.
- Process Optimization: Propose and implement strategies to streamline production processes and increase operational efficiency.
- Performance Monitoring: Collaborate with team leaders to identify factors impacting packing speed and support top performance across the labor force.
- Inventory & Accuracy Checks: Verify that repack operations are correctly logged in the system, losses are accurately reported, and sources are properly tracked.
- Technical Expertise: Acquire a strong understanding of grading equipment settings and coordinate with maintenance when technical issues arise.
- Sample Preparation: Work alongside QA and Marketing to prepare product samples for customers.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct product inspections to ensure compliance with company quality standards.
- Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with Purchasing and Logistics to ensure timely delivery of packaging materials to production lines.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of packaging supplies, report shortages, and place replenishment orders.
- Forecasting: Support Warehouse operations in predicting material and product needs.
- Compliance & Training: Partner with QA and Food Safety to implement best practices, conduct staff training, and monitor effectiveness.
- Cross-Departmental Communication: Maintain active communication with Facilities, Logistics, QA, and Administrative departments to ensure alignment.
- Continuous Improvement: Assist in LEAN initiatives across departments to boost efficiency and reduce costs, focusing on grading and packaging operations.
Qualifications
- 1-2+ years of experience at a Supervisory level, preferably in the food industry.
- Strong experience with inventory managementand grading quality assurance practices.
- Previous ERP experience.
- Excellent leadership skills, having performed regular reviews and check-ins with the team. Capable of motivating the team.
- Analytical skills and extreme attention to detail.
- Time management and priority management skills.
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Self-starter requiring limited supervision and a desire to work in a team environment.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Reliable transportation and a Drivers license.
- Ability to deal with last-minute changes and work in a fast-paced work environment.
Compensation
- $65,000 to $75,000
