Job Description:
- The main function of the L&D Instructional Designer/Developer is to consult, scope, recommend, design, and develop high-quality, fully accessible, multi-approach blended learning, evaluation and performance solutions supporting complex, highly visible, fast-paced learning projects.
Accountabilities:
- The L&D Instructional Designer/Developer supports highly complex learning projects to deliver timely, high-quality, consistent learning solutions that positively impact client business metrics
- Ability to synthesize, simplify, and communicate complex information and theoretical concepts while applying clear language principles
- Work directly with the Course Owner and subject matter experts to capture content-specific knowledge and performance gaps, needs, and purpose to develop appropriate solutions within deadlines
- Has the ability to act as a confident and collaborative partner and trusted advisor to Learning Business Partners, Designers, and Business stakeholders
- Has the ability to work collaboratively with project team members
- Has the ability to influence and persuade with confidence and tact
- Has the ability to develop relationships and leverage partners to provide appropriate and relevant data
- Designs and develops engaging, interactive blended learning solutions, ensuring learning and performance objectives are met
- Ensures learning solutions align to the client's brand, learner accessibility, and principles of diversity and inclusion, leveraging established standards and guidelines and achieve success criteria while managing scope, risks, and problem resolution
- Leverages best-in-class common practices, processes, and measures across the design, development, and training evaluation
- Has the ability to "read" data and analyze it; the ability to "tell the story" that data represents
- Provides deep subject matter expertise in learning and performance consulting, including knowledge of external best practices and emerging trends; maintains best practices in instructional design and development, and program evaluation and measurement
- The L&D Instructional Designer/Developer provides design and development thought leadership and/or industry knowledge and participates in knowledge transfer within the team
- Adaptable and flexible with an ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines
- Protect the interests of the organization – identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard activities/concerns as necessary
- Has the ability to apply business acumen and knowledge of the client's business to establish credibility with business line clients
Must Have:
- 8+ years' experience as an Instructional Designer and Developer
- Educational background in Instructional Design / Adult Learning Certificate
- 4 yrs+ evaluation, measurement, or business analysis experience
- Experience creating training evaluation surveys (Kirkpatrick Level 1 to 4) and competency-based assessments
- Knowledge of Question Design best practices
- Experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.2) and testing using Freedom Scientific JAWS Screen Reader
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Advanced development skills in creating high-quality, fully accessible learning and training assessment deliverables in all modalities (i.e., proficiency assessments and surveys; eLearning and videos; self-led learning assets, etc.)
- Advanced MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel & Word) and experience designing engaging virtual materials and Excel-based reports
- Advanced skills in developing eLearning and simulations using the Articulate 360 suite of products
- Advanced skills in developing assessments and surveys on Qualtrics and LMS
Nice To Have:
- Instructional Design and Development experience supporting the financial industry on complex, fast-paced projects
- Training/Performance Evaluation and Consultation certification from a recognized Training Evaluation organization, such as Kirkpatrick Partners, ATD, Training Industry, etc.
- Advanced skills in developing videos using the Adobe suite of products (especially Adobe Premiere Pro) and Camtasia
- Process improvement or Lean Six Sigma experience
- Advanced skills in developing videos using Vyond
- Willingness to keep up with current trends and skills in training design, development, and evaluation
Degree/Certifications Required:
- Educational background in Instructional Design / Adult Learning Certificate
