Job Summary:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Building Services Designer or Technician to support the planning, design, and documentation of mechanical and plumbing systems for commercial, educational and institutional/municipal buildings. This role involves working with a team of company engineers and project managers to ensure building systems are functional, efficient, and compliant with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and draft building services systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical services using CAD tools
- Prepare detailed drawings, schematics, and layouts for mechanical installations.
- Assist in load calculations, equipment selection, and system layouts.
- Support the coordination of building services with architectural and structural layouts.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to meet project specifications and codes.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, schedules
- Prepare sketches and diagrams when and if needed to assist contractors when deviations from the original design are required.
- Ensure designs adhere to relevant standards such as ASHRAE and local building codes.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience in building services design or drafting.
- Proficiency in CAD and MS Office suite
- Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Familiarity with building codes, fire safety regulations, and energy efficiency standards.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently after conceptual guidelines are provided by the Design Engineers or Project Supervisors
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with energy modeling or sustainability is a plus
