The organization is currently investing out of the Longbow Energy Transition Fund, which invests in businesses that will benefit from the tailwind of the energy transition.
Vice President is a senior investment role that reports directly to the Managing Directors and plays a pivotal role in the organization for leading the day-to-day activities of the firm and driving business activity.
As a Vice President, you are expected to:
▪Have, and be developing, a network that generates proprietary deal flow;
▪Lead and be responsible for transaction execution and portfolio company management;
▪Generate qualified investor leads to assist in the capital raising process by growing your relationship network and nurturing those relationships with intention;
▪Been seen by external stakeholders as value added partners; and,
▪Consistently demonstrate excellent judgement in all areas but particularly as it relates to investment decisions and portfolio company management.
Additionally, a Vice President should promote the growth of the firm by:
▪Demonstrating leadership internally to promote excellence;
▪Consistently modeling the firm Values internally and externally;
▪Actively representing and promoting the firm externally in a way that engenders trust and credibility;
▪Supporting Managing Directors to maximize effectiveness;
▪Effectively delegating to, coaching, mentoring and developing Associates and Analysts; and,
▪Seeking ways to enhance internal systems for efficiency and effectiveness.
The role is located in Longbow Capital's head offices in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Candidate Profile
Investment experience
10-15 plus years of experience, of which 5-10 is as a principal investor in private equity and possesses significant transaction experience. Proven experience in leading successful deals (e.g., sourcing, analysis, due diligence, execution and monitoring).
Industry knowledge
Knowledge and experience with energy transition, power and energy sectors is valuable but not required.
Interpersonal skills
Experience in negotiating and leading deals (e.g., process, agreements, relationships, teams, etc.). Significant relationship management experience including primary responsibility for managing relationships with portfolio companies and other external stakeholders (investment partners and other co-investors and advisors). Proven ability to lead and motivate teams.
Education and Professional qualifications
Strong academic credentials, including a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other relevant field. CFA, MBA or CPA also considered an asset.
