Company Profile: Our client is a Canadian Civil Construction industry leader that has grown steadily in its 20+ years of operation across Canada. As their operations continue to grow, they are looking for an Intermediate Estimator to join their team for projects up to $100m. Scopes of projects include; roads, bridges, dams, earthworks, transportation etc.

Description:

The successful candidate will be part of the operations team in the GTA. The candidate will be under the direct supervision of the Chief Estimator.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials and labour expenses
• Travel to job sites to gather information on materials required, Labour costs and other factors
• Identify and negotiate with subcontractors
• Use computer software to calculate estimates
• Read blueprints and technical documents to prepare estimates
• Work alongside the project management team to better understand the project
• Recommend ways to make projects more cost-effective and or profitability
• Develop project plans for the duration of projects

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
• Three years of estimating experience on medium/large sized complex projects in North America ranging from $5M to $100M in value
• Experience in estimating civil infrastructures such as bridges, roads, and highways, earthworks
• Experience using the estimating system and capacity to adapt to new estimating software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
