Compliance Officer

Location: Toronto (Hybrid – In-office Tuesday Wednesday Thursday)

Experience Required: 2+ years in a relevant compliance, risk management, or audit role

About the Role: Our client, a large real estate organization, is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to support the Vice President, Compliance and help drive their enterprise compliance program forward. This position plays a key role in ensuring the organization's adherence to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the ongoing development and execution of the enterprise compliance program
  • Stay informed of evolving regulatory requirements and assess impact on business practices
  • Communicate regulatory developments and policy changes to stakeholders and employees
  • Provide compliance guidance to internal teams and advise on applicable laws and regulations
  • Manage policy development, implementation, and lifecycle documentation
  • Administer annual compliance training and employee certifications across the organization
  • Support the design and execution of corrective action plans for identified compliance gaps
  • Lead investigations into potential compliance breaches and prepare findings documentation
  • Track and follow up on compliance issues, events, and regulatory deadlines
  • Maintain regulatory calendars and ensure timely report submissions
  • Support audits, risk assessments, and regulatory examinations
  • Build collaborative relationships across the business to foster a strong culture of compliance
  • Contribute to ad hoc compliance initiatives as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 2+ years of relevant experience in compliance, audit, or risk management (4+ years preferred)
  • Knowledge of regulatory environments; experience with the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, policies, and internal controls
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization
  • Strong analytical, judgment, and problem-solving abilities
  • Organized and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
