The Electrical Engineer is an advanced-level role responsible for the design, development and optimization of transformers. As an experienced engineer, the role involves providing technical leadership on complex projects, mentoring less experienced engineers, and solving advanced engineering challenges. This role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams, driving innovation, and ensuring that all designs meet the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of transformers or related components, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and customer specifications.
- Conduct advanced engineering analyses to support product performance, cost optimization, and efficiency improvements, addressing complex design challenges.
- Perform and oversee failure analysis on design-related issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.
- Provide technical leadership in design reviews, guiding decisions, prototyping for testing, and ensuring alignment with project objectives and customer requirements.
- Cross-functional collaboration with mechanical and manufacturing engineers during product development.
- Supervise engineering documentation, including design specifications and test plans.
- Actively participate with Manufacturing Engineering validation electrical testing activities.
- Manage complex core and coil designs.
- Support Senior Electrical Engineers with testing, electrical characterization, and data analysis as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting efforts to improve processes and product designs.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers by offering technical expertise, support, and development opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- More than 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on transformer or related product design.
- If he/she has a Master's degree more than 3 years of experience is acceptable.
- Proven ability to lead design projects from concept to production.
- Excellent understanding of transformer electrical first principles.
- Good understanding in electrical characteristics for transformers (impedance, resistance, volt/turn, ratio, etc.).
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CSA) and regulatory requirements for transformers or components desired.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to learn and apply technical knowledge without supervision.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities.
