Status: 12-month contract

Reporting to: Managing Director & Executive Officer to the CEO

Position Overview:

Bondy & Associates is seeking a highly organized and data-focused Consultant to support the organisation. This role is ideal for an experienced professional looking to lead the firm's media & government monitoring, develop internal and external reports, engage in analysis and work closely along current and prospective clients. The Consultant must have a passion for politics, be detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to work closely alongside the Managing Director and Executive Officer in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Media Monitoring:

  • Monitor various media channels including newspapers, television, radio, online news, social media, blogs, and industry-specific publications for the company, clients, and/or relevant issues.
  • Identify and flag key issues, analyze media sources, create reports and assess media that could impact clients, including positive or negative.

Government & Legislative Monitoring:

  • Monitor government activities, legislative developments, and policy changes at local, provincial, and federal levels that affect clients' interests and needs.
  • Track the progress of relevant legislation from introduction to final passage or rejection, noting key dates, committee reviews, votes, and status changes.
  • Analyze policy development including how legislative changes could influence the regulatory landscape, client operations, or industry-specific issues.
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing legislative activities, including key developments, upcoming votes, and potential client impacts.
  • Identify key government officials, lawmakers, regulators, and influencers relevant to the client's interests.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Provide timely updates to clients on relevant media and legislative developments, and offer strategic insights to help them navigate potential challenges or opportunities.
  • Prepare and present regular monitoring reports and presentations, summarizing findings from both media and legislative monitoring efforts. Reports should include analysis, potential impacts, and recommended actions for clients.
  • Track client interactions in the CRM and keep up to date contact lists.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct in-depth research into specific legislative issues or media narratives, as requested by clients or senior consultants.
  • Analyze election outcomes, changes in government leadership, and shifts in political control to assess how they might impact upcoming legislation or regulations.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory compliance requirements, ensuring that clients are aware of new rules and have strategies in place to remain compliant.
  • Work with technology tools and systems like Google Alerts.
  • Utilize powerful AI platforms to summarize and report on legislative developments in real time.

Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated client service delivery.
  • Join senior team members in regular updates and strategy sessions with clients, ensuring their feedback is incorporated into monitoring and reporting efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or college diploma in Political Science, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in media monitoring, politics, government affairs, public relations, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with an ability to synthesize information quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in monitoring tools and platforms for media and legislative tracking.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of the political and legislative landscape.

Compensation:

Bondy & Associates offers a competitive compensation package including:

  • Salary ($55,000 - $70,000 annually)
  • Combination of remote and in-office work, geography-dependent
