JOB TITLE: Powerline Technician

RATE: $51.18/hr – 40 hrs/week

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build, maintain, and repair overhead/underground systems up to 27.6 kV
• Live line work and substation tasks
• Troubleshoot and restore power during outages
• Operate vehicles/equipment (boom trucks, etc.)
• Perform line clearing and meter installs
• Maintain compliance with safety and regulatory codes (e.g., ESA 22:04, UWPC)
• Participate in emergency/on-call rotation (45-min response time)
• Track hours, complete outage reports
• Mentor apprentices and provide performance input

REQUIREMENTS

• Certified Powerline Technician (MEARIE Group or equivalent); 4th-year Apprentices considered
• Ministry of Training Powerline Certificate (or equivalent)
• Valid Class D with Z endorsement
• Knowledge of Utility Work Protection Code, Electrical Safety Rules
• Physically fit, comfortable working at heights and in all weather
• Strong communicator with good customer skills
• Familiar with prints, diagrams, and utility standards
