We are currently searching for the Senior Manager, Accounting & Tax to join our Financial Planning Department.

The Senior Manager, Accounting & Tax is responsible for leading accounting, financial reporting, and taxation activities while ensuring regulatory compliance. This role requires excellent communication skills, tax and statutory compliance and filing. Solid knowledge of accounting, tax and OSFI regulatory reporting and experience in preparation of financial statement and annual audit will be ideal talent for this role.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Accounting

-Lead and oversees accounting function.

-Manage internal control of BS and PL.

-Review and amend unaudited annual financial statements.

-Supervise the coordination of the annual audit, including liaison with external auditor.

-Supervise providing timely, accurate and practical accounting advises based on IFRS to other

departments and branches.

-Develop accounting procedures for emerging accounting issues or new business opportunities.

-Review and update accounting policies and procedures, and be responsible for general ledger

and chart of account of the bank.

-Apply proper accounting principles with strong understanding of IFRS.

-Review the report of Expected Credit Loss and provide advice on any accounting issue

identified.

-Lead all external audit activities

  • Taxation

-Lead the preparation of the tax reports to the management.

-Review all tax returns, including the corporate income tax return, the indirect tax return, the Non

Resident Tax return, PST return.

-Identify the factors that may lead to tax risks.

-Supervise the execution of instalment payments for income tax and indirect tax in timely and

accurate manner.

-Supervise the preparation of year-end tax provision and deferred tax asset/liability process.

-Supervise month-end tax provision for month-end closing process.

-Provide foreign tax credit report to parent bank for tax paid in Canada, and receive foreign tax

credit report from the affiliates of the parent bank for tax paid in other countries.

-Keep track and update related tax treaty between Canada and other counties in which business

opponents reside.

  • Financial Reporting

-Lead the monthly preparation of BS and PL.

-Supervise the preparation of monthly performance report to senior management, and parent

bank.

-Supervise the disclosure package of the consolidated financial statements of the Parent

Financial Group.

-Review the Intercompany transactions reports within Parent Financial Group.

-Prepare the Business Reports of the bank participating the Business Report of Parent Financial

Group.

-Review and prepare the reports for the Board of Directors' Meeting and Shareholders Meeting

in quarterly base.

  • Regulatory Reporting

-Review Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly Regulatory reports to OSFI and Bank of Canada and Statics

of Canada.

-Review Quarterly Regulatory reports to OSFI, Bank of Canada, and Statics of Canada.

-Support ICCAP preparation.

-Review Regulatory reports to FSS.

-Maintain internal controls on review process of BCAR, LR, NCCF, LCR preparations

-Supervise preparation of details information on risk weighted asset in respect of different asset

portfolio

-Monitor regulatory requirements changes and ensure regulatory submissions are in compliance

  • Public Disclosure

-Prepare OSFI requirements related public disclosure materials, etc.

-Monitor regulatory requirements changes and ensure disclosure documents are in compliance

-Maintain Public disclosure guideline

  • Finance

-Participate annual business plan and mid long term strategic plan

-Support finance function if requires

  • Other

-Ad Hoc duties from CFO

-Hire, onboard & train direct reports

-Continually examine work process and explore opportunities for improving process

Qualification and Skills :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics or related field preferred;
  • CPA designation is required;
  • Canadian banking industry experience is required;
  • 5+ years of experience in general accounting or taxation;
  • 3+ years of people management experience;
  • 1+ year of regulatory reporting to OSFI
  • Experience on IRRBB is an asset
  • Strong leadership skills (i.e. mentoring staffs, and delegating tasks);
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and banking business;
  • Problem solving skills and proactively promote process efficiency;
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize; effective time-management;
  • Excellent in time management and flexible for overtime work;
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical skills;
  • Communication skills (both written and oral);
  • Advanced skills in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Korean speaking is an asset
  • Manage and mentor direct reports
