Location: Simandou, NZÉRÉKORÉ, GUINEA
Project Overview:
The Simandou Project is a large-scale iron ore mining initiative targeting an initial production capacity of 60 Mtpa (dry), with a future ramp-up to 100 Mtpa. Situated in the mineral-rich southeast of Guinea. The project encompasses exploration, mining, processing, infrastructure development, and sustainable operations planning.
Job Overview:
We are seeking several highly experienced and driven MEI Superintendents to oversee all mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation activities on-site. The successful candidates will manage contractor performance, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and deliver project milestones on schedule. This is a rotation-based role (6 weeks on, 3 weeks off).
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the execution of MEI activities in accordance with project plans and specifications.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards and procedures.
- Manage subcontractor performance, productivity, and progress against schedule.
- Lead daily toolbox talks and participate in regular safety audits and inspections.
- Review and approve method statements, ITPs, and QA/QC documentation.
- Liaise with engineering, procurement, and planning teams to ensure smooth execution of construction works.
- Monitor and report on progress, identify risks and delays, and implement corrective measures.
- Ensure alignment with project timelines, budget constraints, and quality expectations.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to field supervisors and tradespeople.
- Coordinate pre-commissioning and handover activities with commissioning teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent trade background.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial/mining construction projects, including supervisory roles.
- Proven experience in greenfield or brownfield mining projects, ideally in West Africa or similar environments.
- Strong knowledge of international construction standards, codes, and best practices.
- Experience managing multicultural teams and working in remote site conditions.
- Familiarity with construction management systems and reporting tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English (French is an asset).
- Commitment to safety, quality, and performance.
Rotation & Site Conditions:
- Valid Passport
- Rotation: 6 weeks on / 3 weeks off
- Camp-based accommodation, full board, and travel arrangements provided.
