Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Estimator to join our pre-construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial construction projects including interior fit-outs, renovations, and light new builds. The Estimator will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure bids are timely, complete, and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine scope and requirements
• Perform quantity take-offs and prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, and subcontractors
• Solicit and review pricing from subcontractors and suppliers; build and maintain relationships with trades
• Analyze drawings for discrepancies, omissions, and constructability issues and submit RFIs as needed
• Prepare and submit bid proposals and ensure compliance with tender requirements
• Assist with value engineering exercises and scope clarification
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client walkthroughs
• Support handoff of successful bids to project managers and assist in budgeting as needed
• Maintain cost databases, unit pricing, and trade contact lists
• Monitor market conditions and pricing trends

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in estimating for commercial construction (GC environment preferred)
• Proven experience with interior fit-outs, renovations, and/or commercial building projects
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
• Proficient with estimating software (e.g., Planswift, Bluebeam, Excel, or similar)
• Excellent math, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Strong time management and communication skills; able to meet tight deadlines
• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architectural Technology, or related field

Preferred Assets:

• Experience with design-build or fast-track projects
• Familiarity with Procore, MS Project, and project scheduling tools
• LEED or sustainability experience is an asset
