As we embark on a national and cross-border growth strategy through strong foundation of operational excellence, customer loyalty, and innovation; we are seeking a visionary Director, Business Development – Trucking to lead our expansion efforts, secure strategic partnerships, and position NovaXpress as a preferred partner for B2B trucking solutions nationwide.

Role Overview

As Director, Business Development – Trucking, you will play a pivotal leadership role. Reporting directly to the Executive Leadership Team, you will be responsible for originating and closing high-value opportunities, building a strong pipeline of national accounts, and aligning growth initiatives with corporate objectives. You will act as a market-maker, leveraging industry insights, operational acumen, and relationship capital to drive transformational growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Market Development

  • Define and execute a comprehensive national business development strategy.
  • Identify and prioritize growth opportunities across key industries.
  • Expand NovaXpress' footprint beyond Atlantic Canada into targeted new markets.

Executive Client Engagement

  • Cultivate and secure strategic partnerships with senior executives and procurement leaders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to major clients, aligning NovaXpress' services to their evolving supply chain needs.
  • Represent NovaXpress at industry forums and executive-level events.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Finance, Marketing) to ensure client needs are fully met.
  • Influence service innovation and operational strategies based on client insights.
  • Actively contribute to corporate strategy development.

Commercial Growth Execution

  • Meet and exceed revenue, margin, and market share targets.
  • Develop go-to-market plans, pricing strategies, and commercial models for new services.
  • Implement robust reporting and pipeline management processes.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience: 10+ years in business development, strategic sales, or commercial leadership within trucking, logistics, or freight sectors.
  • Track Record: Demonstrated success winning large-scale, complex B2B contracts.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of Canadian trucking markets and regulations.
  • Leadership: Strong executive presence and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align initiatives with broader business strategies.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel nationally as needed.
