MANDATE:

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a critical role in the strategic management and financial oversight of the organization. The CFO will be responsible for ensuring financial health and sustainability by overseeing all financial operations including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting management, financial reporting, and accounting systems. This role will also be responsible for the Risk and Internal Audit functions ensuring internal controls are sound and support the organization's goals and deliverables while promoting a high-performance culture, enhancing leadership capabilities is forefront in this evolving landscape.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement strategies that ensure the effective financial and accounting management of the organization
  • Lead the annual budgeting process to ensure alignment with strategic priorities
  • Provide financial forecasts and analysis to support decision making
  • Oversee financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the finance and risk teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
  • Serve as the key management liaison to the Finance, Audit, & Risk Committee of the Board of Directors ensuring accurate and appropriate information is provided
  • Manage the organization's Key Performance Indictors (KPIs)
  • Oversee the Risk Management and Internal Audit functions
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of financial goals and objectives
  • Manage the investment of any excess organization's cash while optimizing risks effectively
  • Manage the insurance portfolio of the organization as it relates to property and Directors and Officers insurance
  • Plays an integral role in the Management Pension Committee requiring hands-on experience as outlined below
  • Identify and manage financial risks to the organization
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards
  • Ensure all required internal controls are in place and operating effectively

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree coupled with a CPA/CA designation. MBA an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a Senior Financial Leader within financial services.
  • Experience reporting to a Board of Directors
  • Hands-on experience in pension governance, compliance, pension financial risks and reporting, administration and investment monitoring including but not limited to policy amendments; rebalancing; asset allocation and de-risking strategies
  • In-depth knowledge of audit standards and computerized accounting systems
  • Experience presenting financial information to Executive Management and a Board of Directors
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements
  • Require a familiarity with the various activities and by-laws of the organization and of the precedents in various areas such as fee determination and relations to members
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Strong leadership presence with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams
