Job Summary

The Philanthropy Advisor is a senior member of the fundraising team responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding philanthropic gifts of $100,000 or more. This role focuses on building deep, trusted relationships with high-net-worth individuals, families, foundations, and corporate partners — including local businesses and large regional or national corporations — to support the Equip the Vic Campaign and other high-impact initiatives that advance healthcare in northern Saskatchewan.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Advisor manages a curated portfolio of transformational donors and prospects. They develop and execute personalized donor strategies that reflect the values, motivations, and giving potential of each supporter - ensuring every interaction is meaningful, strategic, and tailored. In many cases, this includes guiding donors through complex giving decisions, including blended gifts that combine current and legacy commitments.

The Advisor plays a central role in shaping the Foundation's culture of philanthropy and collaborates across the organization to deliver exceptional donor experiences. They partner closely with campaign counsel, internal colleagues, and volunteers to ensure that donor journeys are seamlessly integrated with campaign messaging, stewardship touchpoints, and organizational priorities.

This role is ideal for a relationship-focused fundraiser with experience in major gift strategy and corporate philanthropy, a passion for impact-driven giving, and the ability to inspire generosity that transforms lives and communities.

Key Responsibilities

Transformational Gift Portfolio Management

  • Manage a portfolio of 60–90 current and prospective major donors, developing and executing personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Initiate conversations around blended giving, encouraging donors to make both immediate and legacy gifts that support our mission
  • Conduct a minimum of 140 meaningful contacts (“moves”) annually
  • Make at least 40 solicitations and secure approximately 13 major gifts annually
  • Prepare and deliver tailored proposals, gift agreements, and donor updates in collaboration with the CEO and team

Donor Engagement & Stewardship

  • Implement comprehensive stewardship plans for major donors, ensuring their ongoing engagement and recognition
  • Implement personalized donor journeys that go beyond financial transactions and build enduring relationships
  • Regularly engage donors through updates, milestone celebrations, and deeper conversations about their philanthropic goals, including legacy giving
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Donor Engagement & Communications to deliver timely and meaningful donor experiences

Campaign & Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Philanthropy & Sponsorship Specialist to coordinate donor transitions and joint fundraising opportunities
  • Liaise with the Director, Marketing & Communications to ensure consistency in messaging and impact reporting
  • Participate in weekly donor strategy meetings, prospect reviews, and campaign updates
  • Maintain accurate donor records and activity tracking in the Foundation's CRM system

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in major gift fundraising, philanthropic advising, or complex relationship management
  • Demonstrated success securing donations of $100,000 or more
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire confidence and build trust with high-net-worth individuals and senior stakeholders
  • Strong written and verbal communication, proposal development, and presentation skills
  • Strategic and donor-centric mindset with attention to detail
  • Experience with donor CRM systems and relationship tracking tools
  • Knowledge of healthcare philanthropy, northern Saskatchewan, or Indigenous communities is an asset

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Number of qualified prospects managed in portfolio
  • Number of cultivation moves and meaningful engagements annually
  • Number and value of solicitations and gifts secured
  • Donor renewal, upgrade, and satisfaction metrics
  • Legacy and blended gift conversations initiated and advanced
  • Collaboration effectiveness with internal colleagues and campaign stakeholders

Location: Prince Albert, SK

Salary Range: $65,000 – $115,000

The Boreal Healthcare Foundation uses a three-tier salary band structure to support transparency and growth. Placement within the band will be based on experience and qualifications.

  • Developmental: $65,000 – $84,999
  • Fully Competent: $85,000 – $99,999
  • High Performance: $100,000 – $115,000
