Introduction:

Peloton Search Partners is a specialized recruitment firm with a focus on finance and investment. Our clients are well-known in real estate investment, private equity (and portfolio companies), private debt, capital markets, pension funds, asset management, family offices, and venture capital.

Background:

Our client is a real estate private equity firm (the "Firm") based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada with AUM of ~$5 billion. The Firm is active in various asset classes (multi-family, seniors, student and others) across North America. The Firm has offices in Canada and the US.

Role Overview:

We are working with the Firm to recruit an associate, investments. This role is involved in all aspects of real estate investment and asset management. The role is based in Toronto.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with senior investment team members to (i) review potential real estate investments and (ii) monitor/manage the performance of existing portfolio investments
  • Manage and actively participate in due diligence processes, including the development of financial models and the preparation of materials for investment committee
  • Manage and actively participate in quarterly asset and equity valuations and prepare relevant documentation
  • Continually research industry and market dynamics across several asset classes and geographic markets and/or sectors to identify trends, opportunities, and risks
  • Assist in managing various third parties including consultants, lenders, lawyers, and advisors
  • Actively contribute to fundraising efforts through the preparation of marketing materials and provision of data for investor communications
  • Support debt financing process across the portfolio

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, real estate, computer science, engineering, economics, or relevant program
  • CFA designation is an asset
  • 3 to 4 years real estate experience in: investment banking, real estate finance, private equity, fund management, or a major lending Institution
  • Excellent understanding of property valuation, financial underwriting, forecasting principles and techniques, and strong financial modelling skills
  • Sound analytical and quantitative skills, rigorous attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities within tight timelines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with a high level of integrity that can gain the trust of fellow colleagues, investors, and developers
  • A self-motivated individual who is proactive, takes initiative, is goal and results-oriented
