We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Early Childhood Educator who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment to our clients, families, and each other.
You will be working as part of a team providing a positive learning environment that supports childrens emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth and development. The Early Childhood Educator cares for and observes children each day to understand and foster their interests and provide an engaging and stimulating environment and program.
This position is a unionized, full-time, temporary position. The rate of pay is $19.21 per hour; the rate of pay can vary from $25.21 - $28.21 per hour based on eligible wage top-ups available. This position is 40 hours per week. The contract is starting July 24, 2025, and runs to September 4, 2026. Location and/or program can be changed based on enrollment and/or operational need.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, promote, implement, and evaluate day-to-day operations of the programs with the support of the Supervisor Early Years and other staff.
- Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Educations pedagogy How Does Learning Happen?
- Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
- Be familiar with and adhere to licensing requirements per the Ministry of Education, Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
- Provide quality, play-based learning and supervision of all children in the care of Wesley Urban Ministries at all times.
- Ensure program needs are being met and in compliance with program licensing requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you will bring:
- Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children from infants to school age, and their families.
- Experience working in a CCEYA licensed program, with parents, and with community partners.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation, i.e., Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
- Current First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I.) training.
- ECERS, SACERS training, and Quest 1(High Five) training are assets.
