Summer Day Camp Leaders
Opportunity:We are in search of enthusiastic and energetic Summer Day Camp Leaders to help plan and lead an inclusive summer camp program for school aged children in North Vancouver. Reporting to the Summer Camp Supervisors and Coordinator, a successful leader candidate will supervise children while ensuring their safety and well-being during and through a variety of different on-site activities and field trips. Contract Details:
  • June 30 – August 25, 2025 inclusive.
  • Full-time – 37.5 hours per week, for eight (8) weeks.
  • (To be considered, candidates must be able to work for the entire period).
  • There is also a paid mandatory training session on Saturday, June 21 from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
  • Offers a fabulous & fun team environment, casual dress, free parking, clean air, beautiful scenery & trails, near Mount Seymour and Deep Cove.
Hourly wage is $19.00 - $22.00 depending on qualifications & experience Key Responsibilities:
  • Holds a strong daily focus on the safety & well-being of children in camps.
  • In collaboration, plans and implements age-appropriate camp games and activities.
  • Ensures the guidance provided for children's behaviour encourages positive self-concept.
  • Ensures positive communication with children and families.
  • Performs first aid as needed.
  • Helps supervise and mentor volunteers.
  • A team player, other program tasks as assigned; be flexible and adaptable.
Required Skills and Knowledge Must Haves:
  • Must be 19 years of age or older.
  • School Age Care certificate or the 20-hour Responsible Adult training certificate.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (minimum eight (8) hours course).
  • A clear criminal records check for vulnerable persons.
  • Able to effectively participate in both indoor & outdoor activities, in the summer weather, with active school age children.
  • Ability to exercise patience and consistency in behaviour management.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting; be well organized, flexible, and able to adapt to new situations as they arise.
  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have a minimum of three (3) months previous experience in a licensed school age program and/or in summer day camp programs previously.
